Rivermen Partnering with PuCKS

Rivermen partnering with PuCKS

Junior hockey players are helping PuCKS participants this month

The Langley Rivermen junior A hockey team and PuCKS Program continue to join forces.

PuCKS gives Langley boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 16 an opportunity to become "hockey scholars," explained founder and executive director Connie Klimek.

The program offers hockey, after-school literacy, and homework clubs to student-athletes who have either recently re-settled in Canada, are behaviourally at risk, or are financially in need.

During the past month, Rivermen players have been making constant appearances on the ice with the program.

"Part of the principles of the Rivermen franchise is to put family, education, and community leadership first and foremost for the betterment of Langley. We believe the PuCKS Program aligns with these principles," said Rivermen director of operations Taylor Henderson.

Throughout February, Rivermen players are helping out with the PuCKS Program on ice, for a grand total of eight times, and will continue to do so for the rest of the season.

"Our commitment is to hockey and education," Henderson continued. "We see hockey as a tool to educate players by providing them with every available opportunity to pursue college scholarships and take their game to the next level. Like the Rivermen, the PuCKS Program is trying to help strong-minded individuals in pursuing their dreams, whether it is in sports or education."

Big Thanks to Ron Knight and McDonalds ~Walnut Grove

Thank you Mr. Ron Knight for inviting PuCKS kids to help celebrate the Walnut Grove McDonalds Grand Opening.

Also for the support you give to your community in so many ways one of them being our very own PuCKS Program as $500 dollars was raised from the proceeds of the new drinks Mc Smoothies and Mc Lattes purchased and a portion donated to the PuCKS Program.

We were entertained by the one and only Ronald McDonald and also had the opportunity to serve samples of the new Mc Smoothie and Mc Cafe drinks to customers throughout the afternoon.

What a great day to to be at McDonalds !
